Our house

Finally thought I should pop up our elevation and floorplan!

Original elevation
The shiny new elevation
Quick note: I've re-done the original elevation in Photoshop!

We're looking at a light Colourbond roof, 'wooden' garage door, two-toned gutters (is that also the fascia thingo?!). We're also adding a strip of slate brick things to the portico as well. (There's a lot of 'things' replacing actual words there, yeeesh).

And, here's the new and improved (read: scribbled) floorplan! We've only had the initial one done and will be getting the new and improved ones soon, where we will chat to our lovely sales rep about what changes we want done. (As a side note, Michael Bartier from Commodore Homes is an absolute legend - we love him!)

The crumpled, well loved initial floorplan

Apologies for the quality - it's looking a little like a dog's breakfast at the moment (I had a sudden fit of inspiration with the landscaping hah!!).

You can view the original here at the Commodore Homes website. I've fallen in love with our amended floorplan - Michael was a real help here with some great suggestions that really suited our lifestyle and future plans.

I'm keen to know your thoughts on these (assuming you can read through the scribble?!!).

  1. Love the floorplan! It's no unlike the house we built so I might be a little biased ;) But it's got some awesome features.

One thing that might be worth considering (or it may already have it, hard to see from the plan) is having a little tiled hob/plinth not sure what it's called in the shower. That way you have somewhere to put your shampoo bottles, but also the vanity can but up against it, eliminating that annoying space between vanity and shower that fills up with dust ;)

Also it's usually not expensive to switch the wardrobes in beds 2/3/4 to doubles if that's something you think you might like.

    1. FAB ideas!!! Crazy, Mum has that annoyance with that space between the shower and the vanity as well! Double wardrobes - didn't know that! Definitely a go-er there, have told the mister to remember that as well :) Big thank you for those suggestions, love em!

    2. PS we're falling more in love with the floorplan the more we look at it as well! Love thinking about looking out onto everything while I'm in the kitchen. Initial idea is to have the wood flooring extend out onto the alfresco decking (which we might try and do ourselves with some Dad muscles!!), making it super nice and long. Mum also suggested a recessed sliding door bit, making it a bit schmicker :) yay Mum!

    1. The guys are pretty awesome!! There was a great post on the Commodore Homes Facebook page about a month or so ago, where Andy went to a lady's workplace and gave her a bottle of Moet, as her then-boyfriend had proposed to her on the slab of their new home!!! (Yes I did point that out to my boyfriend *cackle* hahahaaaa)

There's some negative reviews on Product Review, but I really wouldn't take much notice of those. Best bet is to go to the forum on Home One and check out other people's threads. There's one here which goes from start to finish, with other people who have built with Commodore (http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=57896&hilit=commodore+homes). One lady commenting on that thread had such a good experience with them, she's actually building with them again!

I've got a couple of friends who have bought Commodore Homes (ie. they are the second owners) who are really impressed with the quality of the homes as well.

Think the best bet is to just be on top of things as they happen, and have a good line of communication with the people involved. I've seen some rude people online in some forums, who complain quite a bit but they also seem to be the people that are rude to other people on those forums... you can't win! hah!

Let me know if you end up building and start your own thread in there!!! Commodore Crew ;) *chuckle*
